AWARD-WINNING actress Maya Karin recently admitted that the reason she is rarely seen at social events these days was because she was tired of the glamorous life of a celebrity.
In a recent report, she said that she was not into all the glitz and glamour that come with her career as an actress, preferring a more “laid back” lifestyle instead.
“Also, it doesn’t reflect who I really am. I am just a simple person; I enjoy doing extreme activities,” she said.
“While some people enjoy dolling up on a daily basis, I don’t find that fun at all. Sometimes it can even be stressful.
“I’d rather go out and have teh tarik at a mamak stall, do gardening or even engage in activities, all of which don’t need me to dress to the nines,” said the 37-year-old Malay-German artiste.
Maya is now currently busy rehearsing for theatre production Tun Fatimah Serikandi Empayar Melaka, in which she plays the titular role of the well-known Malaysian heroine.
Directed by Lokman Ghani, Maya plays the titular role, while other cast include Remy Ishak, Ashraf Muslim, Ebby Yus and Isma Halil Hamzah.
It will be staged at the Panggung Bangsawan Melaka on Oct 20 and 21.
