KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Anna Jobling is equally nervous and thrilled to be playing the lead role in 'Duyung: Legenda Aurora,' a sequel to the 2008 movie 'Duyung.'
The 24-year-old artiste, said what makes her even more nervous is the fact that she will be acting alongside Maya Karin, who was the lead in the original movie which became the highest-grossing local movie at the box office 16 years ago.
"Of course, it's a little nerve-wracking as this is the sequel to a successful movie which opened in 2008."
"It's also a huge responsibility to be playing the role of Aurora, who is the daughter of Maya's character (Puteri) in the film," she said.
Anna shared this when met with reporters at a press conference held to announce the sequel in Putrajaya yesterday.
Meanwhile, the director and scriptwriter Datuk Prof Dr A Razak Mohaideen said it was high time to produce a sequel to 'Duyung.'
He added that apart from having a bigger cast, with additional actors joining those who were also in the first movie, the filming this time would take place at 22 locations, including Pulau Payar in Langkawi.
Filming will begin on Sept 13 and is expected to wrap a month later.
Produced by KRU Studios, in collaboration with 8 Bit Studio and Primeworks Studios, it is expected to screen in cinemas in the third quarter of next year.
