KUALA LUMPUR: Actor Zahiril Adzim is disappointed with certain production houses which place their priority on looks over acting skills.
In a recent news report, the 33-year-old award-winning artiste admitted that while good looks would add to the attraction of a production, acting skills must be considered as an important criteria needed when attending auditions.
“I’m very upset whenever I hear of people being rejected way before they had the chance of auditioning all because of their looks.
“Or if they (production houses) insist in casting good-looking actors, then they should make their intentions clear much earlier on, that they’re solely looking for the handsome lot. Talent, if present, is only a bonus,” he said.
Zahiril also recounted how he had been rejected many times before, but the experiences only made him work harder to improve in his flaws.
