LIKE past editions, the Anugerah Skrin 2017 (ASK2017) nominees are kept under wraps until the big night, but a potential Best Drama Series nominee is the much-talked-about 7 Hari Mencintaiku.
Although its leading lady, Siti Saleha Baharom, isn’t putting much thought into its chances of winning, she said she could not thank the TV3 programme’s fans enough for making it the most-watched drama series with 12 million viewers.
“It’s always a good feeling when people enjoy the story that we are trying to tell,” the 27-year-old told the New Straits Times.
“So, no matter what the outcome is at ASK2017, I am proud and honoured to be part of this team and to receive such a recognition.”
The 21st edition of the awards show, themed “Creating a Phenomenon”, will be held at the Putra World Trade Centre at 9pm on Friday. It will be telecast live on TV3.
Other possible Best Drama Series nominees include Andainya Takdir, Syurgaku Tak Sempurna and Pergilah Air Mata.
In ASK2015, Siti Saleha was nominated for Best Drama Actress for the telemovie Ada Sejadah Panjang Terbentang, but lost to Sara Ali.
This year, she may be nominated for the same category for 7 Hari, which also starred Shukri Yahya and Wan Sharmila.
“It’s humbling to be recognised for your hard work. It pushes me to keep the momentum.
“But this is a highly competitive category and my fellow actresses are very talented. I think it’s just a matter of whose rezeki it is that night.”
Siti Saleha is excited to attend the awards as it provides an opportunity to celebrate the talents in the entertainment industry.
“We’ve had a lot of outstanding drama series this year, which makes things even more exciting. Our industry is small, so we should support one another.”
Comedienne Jihan Muse, actor-host Fahrin Ahmad and comedian Shuk will host ASK2017. Performers include Akim & The Majistret, Nora Ariffin, Ayda Jebat, Zizan Razak, Azira Shafinaz, Black and Jaclyn Victor.
Differing from its predecessors, ASK2017 will feature a live pre-event called Majlis Prelude ASK2017 at 5pm.
It will see the presentation of 13 technical awards, including Best Videography, Best Film Editing and Best Montage.
It will be followed by the red carpet event, available for viewing via streaming service tonton at 8pm and on TV9 at 8.30pm.
