KUALA LUMPUR: Popular veteran actor Datuk Jalaluddin Hassan shed tears of happiness the moment he and Rapidah Abd Ghani officially became husband and wife at the Bandar Tun Hussein Onn mosque this morning at 11am.
Looking resplendent in matching white for the momentous occasion, the couple’s union was witnessed by some 100 family members and close friends in a simple solemnisation ceremony.
Jalaluddin recited the marriage pledge once and was solemnised by the brother of the bride, Lokman Abd Gani while witnessed by the Imam of Bandar Tun Hussein Onn mosque, Ustaz Mohd Faisal Mohd Noor.
The 63-year-old bridegroom presented his bride with RM300 mas kahwin (dowry) and five dulang hantaran (wedding gifts) that included a RM20,000 massage chair, while Rapidah, 44, returned with seven trays.
“Alhamdulillah, everything that happened today is with the grace of Allah.
“I'm happy to have met my wife and look forward to building a life together with our kids and grandchildren," he said.
Jalaluddin’s late wife Datin Hasimah Mat Ehsan died after heart surgery complications at the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre (PPUKM) on Nov 5 last year.
