KUALA LUMPUR: Once again, actress Nur Fathia Latiff landed herself in hot water following a tweet, deemed racist by Twitter users.
She wrote: “I did braids. Konon-konon nak jadi nigger.” (I did braids in my supposed attempt to become a nigger).
Followers responded by saying the 30-year-old shouldn’t have used the word “nigger” and was then asked to delete the tweet, but she initially refused to do so.
User @10befiend replied to her and said: “Delete this now. Please.” Fathia responded with “Ahahaha. Nope!”
Eventually the actress deleted the tweet and posted an apology note to her followers.
“I humbly apologise and truly regret my use of the ‘n’ word earlier. I’ve deleted the tweets. Sorry again saya silap, saya insan yang lemah dan tak berapa pandai (Sorry again it was my mistake, I’m weak and not very bright).
But followers didn’t let the issue slide so easily. One user @SyazwanShahrul replied to her with: “You apologised only after numerous people have called you out. You’re saying sorry because you got caught and called out, not because you regret it. Even have the audacity to claim you’re not wrong. Whoever is vouching for you, I’m not voting for them.”
