#Showbiz: Singer Nurul Wahab says 'No' to 'The Voice France'

KUALA LUMPUR: Nurul Wahab, who now has her own French album Humaine, was recently invited to participate in The Voice France, but she declined the offer.

The Penang-born singer thinks it is too early for her to participate in a French international talent search because she is still a “newbie” in French music.

She would rather focus on promoting the seven-track Humaine, all songs composed by Kirsten Harma.

“It would be interesting to join The Voice France, but I don’t think it’s the right time for me yet.

“I’d rather try my luck in our own talent shows first,” she said in a recent news report.

When asked about the latest developments of her album which was completed last June, Nurul said she would soon launch in on digital platform, to reach an international audience.

“Kirsten and I have shortlisted three companies that will assist our endeavour, but we’re still in the discussion stage at the moment,” said Nurul, adding that it would be her first move to promote her music via digital platforms.

Nurul, 41, is thankful that French music fans have welcomed her new album, and appreciated the arrival of international singers who worked hard to sing in their mother tongue.

“Age is never a problem for music fans in France. They strongly appreciate veteran singers, and talent is of utmost importance to them.”

Nurul credited her French husband Eric Daniel Depp, for encouraging her to record Humaine. “It was Eric who told me to grab this opportunity for it rarely comes.”

On her current activities, the singer said she was running a nutrition club which she established in 2010 and also conducting zumba classes. “I’m a health and fitness enthusiast... I believe good health equals good stamina and good performances,” said Nurul who has no plans to move to France as Depp prefers to live in Malaysia.

The mother-of-three has just filmed four music videos and shot her album cover in France.
