KUALA LUMPUR: US-based singer-songwriter Yuna may be riding high in her music career, but her popular boutique, November Culture will sadly see the curtain call.
Yuna revealed in an Instagram post today that she was closing down November Culture “due to unforseen circumstances”.
She said: “It is indeed very sad to announce I am closing down November Culture. You all know that I am NC and NC is me. I love my business with all my heart, but it’s time to say goodbye.
“Due to unforeseen circumstances, I no longer have the financial capability to run the business. I creative direct, shop, model and take most of the photos myself, it really is my baby and I came to a point where I had to change my creative direction to save the business and I just couldn’t bring myself to do it.”
Despite her sad decision, Yuna takes pride of her fashion brand saying that she “gave it her best shot”.
“November Culture is fully independent, no investors, no backers, no one to tell me what to sell or do, just me and a couple of people doing what we love, we got a huge following worldwide too!”
She admitted that November Culture, which opened in 2014, made her “learn a lot about business, how wonderful and disappointing it could be and came out of it a better person”.
“Thank you all for your love and support for NC! The models, photographers, staff, customers, thanks for giving me a chance to do this, I love you! Know that I didn’t give up, I’m just starting a new chapter in my life.”
Yuna also said her other boutique Tiny Forests in Subang Jaya was still running strong. “We love it that we get to keep our space in Subang to fully focus on Tiny Forest.”
The singer’s post generated more than 2,600 likes and 70 comments.
“I love you and everything you do. This I believe is for the best. God bless every one of your endeavours,”said Vijay.
“I love November Culture. I’m already wearing clothes for my violin recital and engagement photos. Thank you so much for providing creative and beautiful clothing that I feel comfortable and confident in,” said Ralee.
“This is sad. I’m in the same boat, having a clothing business and it’s super hrd because I’m doing almost everything on my own. But I believe in it and it’s my dream so I will keep walking this path. Love you lots Yuna! I wish we can meet one day,”said QueenOfSabba.
Asyraf Zainal said: “This is heartbreaking. I just bought one of the collection few weeks ago, and I’m sad that NC is shutting down. But then I believe you have more to come!”
