KUALA LUMPUR: British rock group Radiohead will be coming to Malaysia soon, based on a promise by Permatang Pauh Member of Parliament Nurul Izzah Anwar.
Nurul Izzah, a fan of Radiohead, tweeted at 6pm last Saturday that she would fulfil her promise to have the group hold its first concert in the Klang Valley if Pakatan Harapan won the general election.
“Indeed. A promise is a promise. Now get on to work!" said Nurul Izzah, who was reminded of it by a Netizen @AlepWilcox.
@AlepWilcox reminded Nurul of her five-year-old promise in a 2.06am tweet that day.
In his tweet, he revealed that Nurul Izzah said in an interview with Esquire magazine in July 2013: “If we had won Putrajaya I would have brought Radiohead to Malaysia.”
“We want Radiohead live in KL! This is our call to YB Nurul Izzah,” tweeted @AlepWilcox.
Netizens were delighted that Nurul Izzah vowed to keep her promise.
Some of them even requested that the Government welcome renowned rock bands from the West such as Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Iron Maiden and The Killers to perform in the Klang Valley someday.
Event organiser Impact Entertainment Group from Singapore agreed, and tweeted “We can try” at 7.42pm yesterday.
Impact had previously organised concerts by Janet Jackson, Hoobastank, Lenka and Richard Marx.
