#Showbiz: Neelofa to promote Muslimah fashion on international stage

KUALA LUMPUR: Popular TV host, actress and successful entrepreneur Noor Neelofa Mohd Noor will be heading to the famous Paris Fashion Week 2018 event next month to highlight Muslimah fashion.

The 29-year-old celebrity, who has been an ambassador for Swarovski for three consecutive years now, had also recently started a working relationship with luxury brand Louis Vuitton (LV) Malaysia.

“It’s been my dream to take on the international market through Muslimah fashion. I hope that fashion aficionados worldwide will open their minds and be able to appreciate Muslimah and hijab fashion.

“I’ve noticed that not many celebrities or icons who wear hijab have taken the step of promoting hijabi fashion in a big way. Only Somali US supermodel, Halima Aden, seems to be at the forefront of this.

“I hope that my collaboration with LV will help to invigorate hijab-related fashion. Even though they’re an international brand, they’re opening up to the idea of attracting women who cover up,” she said in a recent news report.

Neelofa added that LV Malaysia had previously approached her to work together for the project.

“It involves a campaign for clothes, shoes and scarves by the famous brand. What’s interesting is that they asked about the pilgrimage story and hijab fashion before agreeing to the collaboration,” she said.

Neelofa also revealed that she would be bringing her own brand, Naelofar Hijab, to the international stage.

“I believe that there will be more opportunities coming my way by attending the Paris Fashion Week event. I want to be involved in a global campaign to prove that women who choose to cover up are not left behind in terms of fashion,” she said.

Neelofa, who also recently flew to Paris to attend a Lancome event, added: “I have been criticised by Netizens before for donning an oversized outfit with a pouch bag by a renowned label but I was not disheartened by it all. I feel that Malaysians find it hard to accept fashion trends.”
