#Showbiz: I had the bad BO, reveals singer Khai Bahar

KUALA LUMPUR: Well-groomed and well-dressed singer Khai Bahar may be a teen idol today, but more than a decade ago, his schoolmates skewered him for ‘polluting the atmosphere’ with body odour.

“I had terrible BO when I was younger, and kids avoided me. As a result, I felt like a loser,” said Khai in a news report today.

Khai, who is an ambassador of health and beauty products such as C Clean Plus facial cleanser and Bayang men’s perfume, said such “rejection” made him take personal grooming seriously, and he gradually “transformed” into the person that he is today.

“Personal grooming goes a long way in making us confident. When we are well-groomed and look good, we feel good, and this boosts our confidence.”

Khai, 23, said many Netizens commended him for sharing his “days of smelling bad” on social media. “They thanked me for my honesty and told me that I inspired them to groom themselves better.”

The artiste from Kangar also said that he was honoured to be nominated for Popular Male Artiste at the Anugerah Bintang Popular Berita Harian 31 (ABPBH 31).

“It’s always an honour to be in the running for this competition, and I want to thank all my fans for their support, and hope for the best.”

ABPBH 31 will be held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) at 9pm on Oct 7.
