KUALA LUMPUR: Popular comedian Saiful Azam Yusoff or Saiful Apek does not only ace in sitcom, but apparently he is also quite the natural motivational speaker.
“I give motivational talks at colleges, universities and mosques,” he said, adding that he had been a motivational speaker for more than a year now.
“I’m still very much committed to comedy but I also like to share tips for achieving career success especially with the undergrads,” he said.
Saiful Apek, 49, who was recently interviewed on the talk show Planet Mawi said that he was also a “friend of cats” who worked with like-minded people to rescue stray cats.
When asked about his former comedy troupe Senario, Saiful Apek said they were making a comeback.
He said the troupe, formed in the mid-1990s and had its weekly series of sketches on TV3 back then, had plans to release a new album of comedic pop songs.
“We’ve never officially dissolved, each of us got involved in our own solo projects. But we’ve all been in touch and still remain good friends,” he said.
“We will record the album soon, and if all goes well it will be out by year end.”
Senario has had nine current and former members — Azlee Jaafar, Mazlan Ahmad, Wahid Mohamad, Hamdan Ramli, Ilya Buang Shaharom, Shamsul Azhar Alaiddin or Shamsul Ghau Ghau, Farouk Hussain, Saiful Apek and Yassin Yahya.
First formed in 1996 by Shamsul, Farouk, Azlee, Mazlan, Wahid, Hamdan and Ilya who were among the finalists of TV3 talent search Sinaran Pasport Kegemilangan, the troupe won Anugerah Komedi Sepanjang Zaman (All-Time Comedy Award) at the Anugerah Lawak Warna 2014 and Popular Group/Duo at the Anugerah Bintang Popular Berita Harian 1999, 2000 and 2001.
