KUALA LUMPUR: Uber popular K-Pop band BTS is known for sleek dance moves in addition to its long list of catchy hit songs.
A sequence of funky steps have apparently caught on after hunky member J-Hope shared a video on Monday of himself dancing to the chorus of the group’s latest number, Idol, in Malta.
Tagging the Twitter post with hashtags, #HopeOnTheStreet, #URSOO (a Korean exclamation from the song), #IDOL and #IDOLCHALLENGE, it seems that the South Korean music outfit’s fans, dubbed Army, have taken up the challenge.
According to Soompi, the video clip that has since gone viral has also inspired countless of fans around the world to post videos of them dancing to the same segment of the hit song.
Popular US talk show, The Ellen Degeneres Show, which BTS had appeared on twice before as a guest, also shared on the social media platform a video of its DJ tWitch grooving to the challenge onstage as well.
The popularity of the challenge shot through the roof even more when all seven members of the group performed it together during a Naver V Live broadcast on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, fans are still rising to the challenge with videos uploaded from countries like Argentina, India and the US.
