#Showbiz: Avid triathlon fan Alif Satar aims for Ironman Langkawi 2018 [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Popular singer, actor and talk show host Alif Satar may be passionate about show business, but he is equally thrilled about extreme challenging sports such as triathlons.

Having participated in the Port Dickson International Triathlon 2018 last May, the 28-year-old host of It’s Alif! on ntv7 is preparing himself for another similar event in November.

Alif, who spends four days a week working out in the gymnasium, and two hours a day swimming, is going all out for the Ironman Langkawi Challenge 2018 on Nov 17 and describes it as his biggest physical challenge.

The 28-year-old One In A Million second runner-up said: “I’ve been busy preparing myself since last year. Port Dickson was tough, yet I rose up to the challenge and completed it.

“It’s not about winning, but keeping fit, overcoming obstacles and having a great time,” he said after the launch of A & A Premier Lifestyle Services’ consumer card A Lifestyle Privilege Card, of which he is the brand ambassador, at the Malaysia Tourism Information Centre here yesterday.

He said: “Some of my friends asked if triathlons intimidated me, but I told them I always love a physical challenge since I’m a competitive person. It’s true that swimming in the sea can be a bit scary but I’m good at swimming.”

Alif said the anticipated seven-hour challenge in Langkawi would see hundreds of international participants swim for 1.9 km, cycle 90 km and run 21 km around the island.

“I aim to take part in one or two triathlons every year, and even go for Ironman Challenges in the United States someday. I’m always honoured to represent Malaysia in events that I enjoy.”

On the lifestyle privilege card, Alif said it was his first involvement in business after 12 years in the entertainment scene.

“It’s a card that offers discounts from more than 20 companies as well as special services for consumers,” said Alif, adding that A & A’s chief executive officer Aniqi Mohd Razif was his old friend.

Alif, who was an athlete during his schooldays, said he might share his experiences in triathlons during his talk show.
