KUALA LUMPUR: Singer Alif Satar plans to interview two internationally renowned figures for his Islamic travel programme Beyond Borders Kita Sama soon.
In an interview with Berita Harian yesterday, Alif said that they are former French footballer Zinedine Zidane and British singer Yusuf Islam, formerly Cat Stevens.
"In my new programme, I interview well-known Muslim figures of international stature. Zidane and Yusuf are two of them I have had in mind from the start," he said.
"When the producers told me that I could interview them, I was so excited."
Alif was interviewed at the Beyond Borders Kita Sama Concert press conference at Balai Seni Negara in Jalan Tun Razak here.
The concert presented by Light Upon Light will feature Alif and his band The Locos as well as nasyid stars Raihan.
It will be held in Paris on Oct 6, followed by London on Oct 11.
When asked about the topics he would discuss with Zidane and Yusuf, Alif said that they would talk about their life journeys as Muslims living in Europe.
"I want to know how they uphold Islamic teachings in their lives when faced with rampant Islamophobia across Europe these days," he said.
Alif also said that London and Paris were his favourite cities in Europe, as they were rich in history, culture and music.
"In Paris I will perform on a cruise ship across the Seine," he said.
