KUALA LUMPUR: Netizens, including fellow actresses, have slammed a group of so-called fans for intruding into the privacy of Puteri Balqis Azizi and her family.
An online portal uploaded a five-minute video on its Facebook page recently, showing two men and a woman who claimed to be representatives of a health food company from Kedah visiting Balqis in her living room.
Balqis was shown napping, and a relative was sitting beside her. The trio, who were accompanied by a videographer, told Netizens that their company’s products could help the cancer-stricken actress improve her health.
One of the men even called on the public to visit Balqis and give her all the support she needed.
Despite the trio’s assertion that they meant well, Netizens were not convinced, and slammed them for being “rude and disrespectful” of Balqis’ privacy.
“Where is their manners? I pity Balqis. This is a clear intrusion of privacy by a bunch of fools,” said Diana.
Even veteran actress Fauziah Nawi regretted the action of the trio. “My God, why do this to poor Balqis? She’s not well and you guys disturb her.”
Actress Allana Amir said: “These people are clearly crazy publicity-seekers. I’ve had enough of them!”
Award-winning Balqis, 11, suffers from cancer, but is determined to fight the disease and get well.
She recently posted on her Instagram account that she was grateful to her doctor, and would miss him a lot, now that her sessions with him were over.
On July 7, the actress’ mother Norashikin Mohd Aziz said that she was suffering from the disease, but did not go into details.
Norashikin said her daughter was seeking specialist treatment for her illness and also had problems with her heart and lungs.
Puteri Balqis bagged Best Actress Award at the 19th Asian Television Awards in 2014.
