#Showbiz: 'I'm sorry Qayyum' — Aliff Syukri returns adopted son

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Aliff Syukri has no choice but to return his year-old adopted son Qayyum to his biological mother yesterday.

Sharing the sad news via an emotional video on Instagram, the cosmetics businessman-turned-singer also included a heartfelt message to the little one.

The video depicts Qayyum’s last moments with Aliff’s helpers as they send him off to be reconciled with his mother.

Aliff and his wife, Datin Seri Nur Shahida Mohd Rashid however, were not present in the video, as they couldn’t bring themselves to say their goodbyes.

“Abah dan mama tak sanggup nak hantar Yom (Qayyum) balik dengan ibu kandung yom.” (We couldn’t bring ourselves to send you back to your mother).

“I’m sorry @babyterlajaklaris (Qayyum)”, he wrote.

“Come visit me when you’re older. I don’t want money, I just want to see you,” said Aliff.

He also said that although Qayyum was not his biological son, he has always regarded him as one of his own.

The decision to return Qayyum came after his biological mother reached out to Aliff seeking the return of her son.

It is believed that it all started with a video that allegedly saw Qayyum being manhandled by one of Aliff’s helpers during a birthday party. It went viral almost instantaneously.

Meanwhile, Aliff and Shahida will be releasing a song Selawat Dodoi Anakku, which they have dedicated it to Qayyum.

Aliff is hopeful that Qayyum will always remember them even when he is older.
