KUALA LUMPUR: Crazy Rich Asians actor Henry Golding may become Malaysia’s first James Bond once Daniel Craig calls it a day as 007.
In a news report yesterday, Golding told entertainment portal TMZ that he had chosen to maintain silence amid such speculations.
“I couldn’t possibly say anything about that,” said Golding, who first found fame as the co-host of entertainment talk show The 8TV Quickie 13 years ago.
The untitled 25th Bond film, to be released next year, is reportedly the last for the 50-year-old Craig. The British actor has starred in four cinematic adventures of 007 beginning with Casino Royale in 2006.
The British media has listed Tom Hardy, Henry Cavill and Idris Elba as some of his possible successors.
Golding, 32, who is of British-Iban parentage from Betong, Sarawak has starred in the 2009 romantic comedy Pisau Cukur directed by Bernard Chauly prior to his Hollywood debut in Crazy Rich Asians.
He also appeared in Paul Feig’s thriller A Simple Favour last year, and his third Hollywood film Last Christmas will be released in November.
