KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran comedian AR Badul is on the mend, and resting at his kampung, says Datuk DJ Dave.
The Yayasan Kebajikan Artis Tanahair (YKAT) chairman has slammed irresponsible Netizens for spreading fake news about Badul’s death.
“It’s a rude shock. I’ve been getting calls from concerned fans and friends of Badul since this morning.
“I’ve spoken to him today and he’s in good spirits. He was discharged from hospital on Thursday, and he’s now in Pahang,” said Dave.
Dave has called on Netizens to stop circulating false reports on social media.
“This is rude and disrespectful to Badul and family. Netizens should always contact the artiste’s family to confirm the latest developments.
“If they are not sure, they should not make posts on social media, it creates panic and hurts the artiste’s family,” said Dave who visited Badul at the National Heart Institute (IJN) in Jalan Tun Razak last Tuesday.
Badul, 69, was admitted to the IJN last Sunday and underwent minor heart surgery. He will return for further surgery next month.
Badul or Armaya Aman Ramlie is the son of screen legend AR Tompel who starred with Tan Sri P. Ramlee in movies as Anak Bapak and Do Re Mi.
The father of seven children is also the elder brother of Dukun actor Adlin Aman Ramlie.
He appeared in his first film Si Badol in 1978, and has starred in more than 30 films, including Hantu Siang, Senario The Movie and Kerja Kahwin.
Badul won Best Actor and Best Director for the film Oh Fatimah at the 8th Malaysian Film Festival in 1989.
