Yayasan Kebajikan Artis Tanahair (YKAT) continues to seek funds to help more artistes despite the lack of financial resources.
Its chairman, Datuk DJ Dave, said the association's coffers have been decreasing over the past few years, limiting efforts to channel aid to veteran artistes in need.
"So far, YKAT has still been able to provide pension money worth RM500 to nine eligible artistes on a monthly basis. But the amount of funds we now have is shrinking.
"We at YKAT are still finding various ways to get financing, including meeting with the relevant minister," he said in a recent 'Berita Harian' report.
DJ Dave, whose real name is Irwan Shah Abdullah, added he would be submitting a written application to the government soon to acquire funds.
"YKAT's funds have been diminishing for a long time. However, we are making efforts through our involvement in various activities that can generate funds.
"Since its formation almost 13 years ago, YKAT has been able to help 1,900 veteran artistes, regardless of race, religion and background," he said.
Established on June 25, 2012, the foundation has helped many veteran artistes above 60, including those in Sabah and Sarawak, who have suffered from illnesses, accidents, paralysis and other misfortunes.
