KUALA LUMPUR: Director and actor Ahmad Idham Ahmad Nadzri is now the chief executive officer of the National Film Development Corporation (Finas).
Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo in a statement today said Ahmad Idham’s appointment was decided by Finas’ board members under the provisions of the Malaysian National Film Development Corporation Act 1981.
Ahmad Idham’s appointment was effective from last Monday and he will be serving for two years.
He replaces Finas’ acting director-general Shakib Ahmad Shakir who was appointed four months ago.
“We want to thank Shakib for his services and we hope the new CEO will further develop the film industry.
“I also hope that board members will give Ahmad Idham their full cooperation in implementing reforms in line with government policy,” said Gobind.
Ahmad Idham, 45, is an accounting graduate from Universiti Teknologi Mara in Shah Alam.
He has had 25 years’ experience as an actor, director and producer.
Among the movies he has appeared in are Mr Cinderella, Remp-It and Damping Malam, while films he had directed include Jangan Pandang Belakang Congkak, Gerimis Mengundang and Adnan Sempit.
