PETALING JAYA: BoBoiBoy Movie 2 will be Malaysia’s first animated film to be released in five countries in the region simultaneously when it opens on Aug 8.
Besides Malaysia, the other four countries are Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei and Vietnam.
Produced by Animonsta Studios and Astro Shaw, the second BoBoiBoy film is expected to be screened in 500 cinemas in the region.
“We are absolutely thrilled that we have achieved such a milestone,” said Animonsta Studios chief executive officer Nizam Abd Razak, adding that his team was still in discussion with distributors for Thailand and the Philippines.
He said this at the launch of the film, which is in the midst of its final editing stage, held at Battle Arena in Jaya Shopping Centre here today.
“For this second film, we are excited to explore the different markets and we also hope that the film will surpass the box office collection of the first film made in 2016,” said Nizam.
The first BoBoiBoy movie collected RM18 million at the box office.
