KUALA LUMPUR: Barely three months of releasing Who Are U which celebrates diversity, singer-songwriter Zee Avi put out another song yesterday, this time with the aim of creating awareness on psoriasis.
Titled My Skin, this self-penned and self-composed tune, is produced by Yuswa Ansari.
The 33-year-old petite artiste uploaded the music video onto her Instagram yesterday, and wrote: “Finally the song My Skin and MV is out! Thank you again @novartismy for choosing me and my producer friend @yuswa to write these fighters a song. Also, thank you @crap.tv for making sure everything went smoothly from the very beginning, as well as producing this beautiful visual.
“For anyone out there that has just a little or no understanding of psoriasis, it is a non-contagious skin condition that is related to autoimmune conditions. There is currently no cure for psoriasis, and people with psoriasis are still fighting for themselves to have a better quality of life. By signing this petition, you too can be a support for all these fighters. http://chng.it/SXg9MJ9F.”
The music video which features a group of psoriasis patients, is produced in collaboration with pharmaceutical company Novartis Malaysia and Psoriasis Association of Malaysia, seeking to unite Malaysians through a song which celebrates psoriasis patients.
The lyrics was inspired during a workshop attended by Zee and psoriasis patients who shared their hopes and challenges living with the burden of the condition.
“I am pleased to have met all these strong, inspiring people who helped me understand Psoriasis on a personal level,” she said in a news report yesterday.
In Malaysia, an estimated 500,000 people are living with psoriasis, a skin disease marked by red, itchy, scaly patches.
