KUALA LUMPUR: Cirque de la Symphonie returns again following successful collaborations with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) back in 2015 and 2018.
Look out for the visual pizzazz and aural delight in shows happening this weekend at the Dewan Filharmonik Petronas (DFP) as the famous touring circus troupe from the US entertains audiences.
Expect to be mesmerised by a plethora of exciting performances by aerial flyers, acrobats, strongmen and jugglers, fused with live orchestral music by the MPO.
This time around, the Cirque shows will also feature a live violin aerialist whose performances will surely put those in attendance at the very edge of their seats.
The musical performances will be devoted almost entirely to tunes from film scores, all originally composed for a symphony orchestra.
Among the variety of moving scores that will be featured are James Horner’s theme from Avatar, John William’s Superman theme, Henry Mancini’s Moon River and Hans Zimmer’s music from Gladiator.
The concerts will be led by Korean-American conductor Gene Chang. The former associate conductor of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra has worked with many renowned orchestras such as the Cincinnati Pops and Pittsburgh Symphony, as well as the Louisiana, Savannah and Seoul Philharmonics.
He returns to the DFP’s podium after his appearance last year for the MPO’s Emily Saves The Orchestra concerts.
Catch Cirque de la Symphonie on Feb 8 at 8.30pm or Feb 9 at 3pm at Dewan Filharmonik Petronas in KLCC.
Tickets are RM141, RM198, RM254 and RM358. Call 03-23317007, email boxoffice@dfp.com.my or visit www.mpo.com.my.
