#Showbiz: Aiman-Zahirah wedding showcases unique 'chandelier' cake

KUALA LUMPUR: The main guest star at the wedding of celebrity couple Aiman Hakim Redza and Zahirah Macwilson last Friday turned out to be their splendid wedding cake.

Unique for being served upside down and hanging from a huge chandelier, the cake which was lowered from the ceiling for the newlyweds to jointly slice, was the handiwork of Lily & Lola Cakes, and took three years to materialise.

The company's founder Lily Osman, 28, said in a news report yesterday that it was "not too difficult" to make the chandelier cake. However, it was quite a challenge to hang the eight-storey cake from a chandelier.

"It's an idea that my sister Alya and I have been thinking about since 2017. Aiman's and Zahirah's wedding became our golden opportunity to put it into practice as it fitted their Rustic wedding theme," she said.

Lily added: "We did the white cake in a week and then it took us an hour to hang it up like a chandelier.

"It was difficult and tricky, because cakes are fragile.

"Several people were needed to fasten the cake firmly to its chandelier host."

Lily thanked wedding planners Mahligai Creative for helping to install the chandelier cake in Glamhall, Mercu Mustapha Kamal, Damansara Perdana, Petaling Jaya where the wedding reception was held.

"Such cakes can cost more than RM10,000, depending on the shape and size of the cake.

"I'm glad that this wedding has made Malaysians realise that we can come up with creative cakes just like this one," she said.

Kimchi Untuk Awak actor Aiman, 30, and Bulan Dan Pria Terhebat actress Zahirah, 24, were married in Glamhall at 9pm last Thursday.

Their wedding reception was held at 9pm at the same venue the following day.

The ceremony, organised by her father, veteran actor and television host Zainol Johari Macwilson, was attended by 200 guests comprised of family members and close friends.
