#Showbiz: Lisdawati gets rid of photos without hijab

KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Lizdawati Nazaruddin, 42, has done away with photos of herself without the hijab.

This means that shots of her early days in acting in the 2000s are no longer in her possession.

In a news report yesterday, the actress said that she had discarded or burnt those photos after attending several religious classes, where she was told by the ustaz to get rid of them.

"The only exception are my wedding photos because they are memories for my husband and I to share. I decided to get rid of the other photos to avoid "collecting sin" when I leave this world," said Lisdawati who started wearing the hijab seven years ago.

However, the actress said that if there were individuals who had such photos in their possession and displayed them, it was not her responsibility.

"I chose to make this announcement on the advice of my religious teachers, for my well-being and that of my loved ones. My mother was delighted when I made the announcement, likewise my husband."

Yesterday, Lisdawati uploaded a studio shot of herself and other actresses on Instagram which was from an entertainment magazine. She doctored it with a black marker pen to give each of them "hijab".

"One day, all of them will be wearing hijab like me, God willing. This is an example of how I would like to be shown in photos from now on."

Lisdawati, a mother of two, has been married to actor Fauzi Nawawi since 2007. Her best known films and dramas include Bisikan Remaja, Bilut, Syaitan, Santau, Aku & Dia Cape Town, Dewi Cinta, Kerana Sarah and Hero Seorang Cinderella.

Her next major film is Mahathir: The Journey which is produced by Reliance Media Group and expected to be released in August.
