KUALA LUMPUR: Rima Rashidi, a popular songstress who was big in the 1990s, is back with Selamat Hari Raya Dunia, her first Hari Raya song in 27 years.
Rima, 48, recorded Selamat Hari Raya Dunia, a duet with Singaporean singer, bassist, composer and lyricist Zac Rasli on May 13, at their respective homes in Malaysia and Singapore.
The song was released within a week, on May 20.
"It's a simple, yet meaningful song, about the universality of Hari Raya Aidilfitri, and relevant to the current situation where we have to observe the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) and spend it at home," said Rima, adding that the song was written and composed by Zac.
"Zac mixed it at his home studio in Singapore while I did my bit at home in KL."
Rima added that her last Hari Raya song was recorded in 1993. Titled Bersabarlah Sayang, it was a cover version originally sung by Singaporean singer Sanisah Huri in the 1970s.
Ipoh-born Rima retired from entertainment after her marriage to businessman Adnan Mohd Noah in 2000.
She is best known for her song Kasih Berbunga Lalang. She also acted in the films Mawar Merah, Mr Os, Antara Dua Hati and Tuah.
Rima is a vocal coach who runs her own company Vocal Wealth Networks with an old friend Siti Hajar Ismail.
Her daughter Yna Rose Noah, 19, is an actress who has appeared in P. Ramlee The Musical and Ola Bola The Musical, as well as the film Buntat and the dramas Dodol Dodol Cinta and Mariam Alissa.
Yna will also appear in Anwardi Jamil's new film Showtime 1958, which is set for release later this year.
