THE Malaysian and Indian music industries are set to be dazzled by 'Chandni', a soulful collaboration between iconic Bollywood singer Kumar Sanu and singer Kamal Chopra from Malaysia.
This romantic duet was conceptualised by Indian music composer Arvinder Raina.
'Chandni', a composition by Raina and Mridul, with lyrics by Shahab Allahabadi and Anjaan Sagri and music video by Philip, is a fusion of classical and contemporary music.
'Chandni' is produced by Kamal's husband Dr Sunil Chopra and released by YNR Originals and Allahabadi.
The international launch of 'Chandni' was held on Aug 28 in Mumbai, India.
VOICE
Kumar is the voice behind several famous songs in Bollywood and won five consecutive Filmfare Awards for Best Male Playback Singer from 1991 to 1995.
He holds the Guinness World Record for recording 28 songs in a single day.
At the song's Malaysian launch in Section 13, Petaling Jaya recently, Kamal said: "Collaborating with the legendary Kumar and being featured in the music video with him has been a dream come true.
"It is truly an honour and a matter of great pride to be able to work with such a great Bollywood singer."
FAN
Kamal, a big fan of Kumar, said he was "a real sweetheart" to work with.
"I was a bit nervous at first but he made me feel comfortable throughout the recording process in Mumbai, India last April."
She added that Kumar's songs made her end up with Dr Sunil.
"We bonded over his songs. Without his music we would not have met!"
CONCERT
Kamal plans to bring Kumar to Kuala Lumpur next year.
"I really hope we will get to share the big stage in Kuala Lumpur and give fans of Bollywood music a magical moment to cherish.
"I believe the song's modern romantic appeal will strike a chord with listeners and leave a lasting impact.
"Music lovers will also enjoy its saxophone solo which makes the song sexy."

The track has already generated significant buzz on social and music platforms with over two million views on YouTube.
Set against the stunning backdrops of Mumbai and Chandigarh, the music video is a visual feast that complements the song's romantic essence.
The video features talented models Mahi Chaudhary and Shubham Sharma.
RHYTHMS
Raina said that he had blended contemporary rhythms with timeless romantic themes to create a rich and engaging experience.
"My vision was to create a song that resonates across different audiences by merging modern musical elements with a classical romantic narrative.
"Working with Kumar and Kamal has been an amazing experience," he said.
DJ DAVE
Currently based in Malaysia, Raina's career has been marked by collaborations with some of the industry's most respected singers.
He has been in Malaysia for two decades and has worked with Reshmonu and Datuk DJ Dave, among others.
Raina teaches music at the Shri Dashmesh International School in Kuala Lumpur.
He received the Vima Music Award for Best Singer in Southeast Asia in 2013.
Kamal said that the music video was filmed in April over two days.
"We recorded the song in the studio in a day," she said, adding that the entire process was smooth sailing.
PENANG
Kamal, a mother of three, is from Selangor but lives in Penang.
She is a lawyer by qualification and the lead singer of a rock band called Vintage Rising.
Kamal has sung Australia, India, the United Kingdom and Japan.
She sings in Hindi, Punjabi, English, Malay, Spanish, Tamil and Chinese.
She has released four original songs — 'Khwaab', 'Jhanjhran', 'Shadaa' and 'Prabh Mangna'.
She has won Most Outstanding International Performer at the World Class Excellence Japan Awards 2023.
Kamal has also been celebrated at the UK Bhangra Awards, where she was named Best International Artiste in 2019 and 2022.
"My next big dream is to see my songs in dramas and films, both local and Bollywood," she said.
