#Showbiz: Local group Dolla takes on BlackPink dance challenge

KUALA LUMPUR: New Malaysian girl group Dolla is keen on showing its talent and moves by participating in the How You Like That Dance Cover Contest organised by red hot international K-Pop sensation BlackPink.

Dolla, comprised of Sabrina, Tabby, Syasya and Angel, hoped that its dance performance video will garner the support of Malaysians.

The group's spokesperson, Sabronzo, said that the video, which was uploaded to Dolla's Instagram account (@dolla.official) and YouTube, had adhered to the criteria for the choreography of BlackPink's newest hit track.

"We hope the the video submission, which is a cover of the choreography to BlackPink's latest song, will successfully catch the attention of music fans in Malaysia and overseas as well.

"If this video can go far and is enjoyed by many, that would simply be awesome. Hopefully fans in Malaysia will support our effort in watching and sharing the video with many others," said the spokesperson in a news report yesterday.

The winner of the contest will receive a grand prize of KRW10 million, which is about RM35,000.

Participants are required to record a video featuring the performance of the choreography found in BlackPink's music video of How You Like That.

The contest which began on July 6 will see the winner announced on July 28.

Dolla released its debut single, Dolla Make You Wanna, last March which was accompanied by a music video featuring its fresh music style and dance performance.

The music video, uploaded to Universal Music Malaysia's YouTube channel, has since garnered over a million views from local, as well as foreign music fans.

Some have apparently created dance covers of the choreography found in the music video and feedback in the comments section have been positive with regards to the quartet's alluring performance.
