#Showbiz: Netizens thrilled by Minions' 'nasi goreng kicap manis'

KUALA LUMPUR: The little, yellow, egg-headed aliens are coming back to the big screen again in Minions: The Rise Of Gru next year.

Best of all, one of them will utter an immortal line in Malay "nasi goreng kicap manis" as he asks for food from his soft-hearted bad guy master, Gru.

The Minions' twitter account recently uploaded a 45-second trailer of The Rise Of Gru, showing the big-hearted Minion Bob sneaking into the bedroom of Gru and asking him for the popular Malaysian dish.

Bob also politely says "terima kasih" to his master, when Gru invites him to sleep on his large bed.

Netizens who viewed the trailer were delighted and excited. Many of them felt honoured that the yellow animated heroes Kevin, Bob and Stuart had chosen to speak in the national language for a second time.

Dean said: "Wow! Thank you Minions. Proud to be Malaysian."

Beauty said: "Tak sabar tengok Gru, Stuart, Kevin dan Bob. Malaysia Boleh!"

Kevin, Bob and Stuart first uttered a Malay word in their 2015 movie Minions, when they were presented with special gifts from Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom for saving the country from the villainess Scarlet Overkill.

They said "thank you" to the monarch in several languages including Malay.

The Rise Of Gru is directed by Kyle Balda and features the voiceover talents of Pierre Coffin, Steve Carell, Taraji P. Henson, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Lucy Lawless and Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh.

The Rise Of Gru will be released on July 2, 2021.
