KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Emelda Rose has refused the courts' suggestion to mediate to resolve dispute between her and fellow artiste Zarina Anjoulie Lavocah Mohd Fahizul.
The 40-year-old artiste's refusal to do so was made public in a press statement yesterday.
Zarina's counsel Wan Azmir Wan Majid of NHA Advocates And Solicitors in a news report today said: "As the defendant Emelda Rose has refused to go through the mediation process, this case will go to trial.
Emelda is said to have slandered and cyber bullied Zarina. She was also alleged to have attacked the reputation of the 33-year-old artiste who is known for her charity work.
Wan Azmir said that Zarina who was committed to ensure her name, image and reputation be cleared from any malicious slander, was open to either mediation or a trial.
Besides seeking the defendant to pay for damages incurred, Zarina who is the plaintiff is also seeking for an injunction to ensure the defendant will not slander her again in the future.
Zarina also wants a public apology from Emelda to be carried in both print and social media.
On Oct 15 last year, the Kuala Lumpur Session Court suggested that both parties resolve their dispute through mediation.
