KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Zarina Anjoulie said that she and Nora Danish's former husband Nedim Nazri were best friends, like "brother and sister".
Zarina, 37, said in an Instagram Story post yesterday that they had known each other since he was 19, and her family was also close to his.
"We have been good friends for many years. Nedim is like an elder brother to me," said Zarina who recently starred in the spiritually-themed comedy Zim Zim Ala Kazim directed by Mawi and starring celebrity preacher Datuk Kazim Elias.
Zarina also said that when Nedim was married to Nora, she chose not to meet him too often because she did not want to "disturb their privacy".
"Nora knows that Nedim and I are old friends. Now that both of them are single again, I am able to chat with him more often," she said, adding that Nora was also a good friend of hers.
Zarina slammed netizens who speculated that she and Nedim were in a relationship following his divorce.
"Nedim is my good friend, nothing more. He respects women and has always been faithful to his former wife and friends."
Zarina recently uploaded a photo of herself and Nedim on Instagram with the caption "I miss you Boss Ned".
Some netizens speculated that they might be in a relationship.
Nedim and Nora were divorced on June 16 after seven years of marriage.
