KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysians, who are now facing a two-week lockdown to stem the Covid-19 tide, have just received words of encouragement from Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau Tak Wah.
Lau, 60, reached out to Malaysians via his official website Andy World Club yesterday, with a positive note to cheer-up his millions of fans.
The singer-actor who last performed in Malaysia at the Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil two years ago, urged Malaysians to have patience and work together in fighting the Covid-19 pandemic.
"To all my friends in Malaysia who are facing a two-week lockdown, have patience, meditate and work together to fight the epidemic," said Lau in his statement.
The National Security Council announced last Friday that Malaysians would face a "total lockdown" from today until 14.
Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced that during the two-week period, only essential economic sectors would be allowed to operate.
Malaysia recorded its highest number of Covid-19 cases last Saturday with 9,020 new cases reported.
Multiple award-winner Lau married Malaysian Carol Chu in 2008. They have a nine-year-old daughter, Hanna.
