KUALA LUMPUR: Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau gave fans a scare after taking a tumble during his Today Is The Day tour in Shenzhen, China last Monday.
AsiaOne reported yesterday that Lau, 63, injured his thumb after falling on stage and hitting his chest on the ground.
In multiple videos that have gone viral on Chinese social media, Lau was seen walking along the stage while serenading fans.
However, he failed to notice an open trapdoor and stepped into the gap, causing him to fall on stage.
Although Lau seemed visibly shocked, he quickly regained his composure and got up to resume his performance.
The Heavenly King assured fans he was fine before taking a moment to get first aid.
He was seen with a bandaged thumb when he returned.
"I hurt my thumb just now, don't worry about me, OK? I will be careful. I let my guard down earlier because it's my last concert here today.
"I promised everyone that I would be safe and healthy, but I got hurt. I am sorry," he said.
Later that day, the singer-actor uploaded two photos from his concert on his social media accounts.
He captioned his post: "Thank you everyone. Let's meet at the next stop!"
The incident sparked heated discussion online.
Some netizens questioned the setup of the stage while others wished for Lau's safety.
"The trapdoor was closed before. Why did it open suddenly?" one netizen questioned.
Another said: "We must avoid falling as we get older. While Andy is in good shape, he is still a senior."
Earlier in July, the singer nearly fell off a 4-metre high platform after performing a stunt at his Shanghai concert.
Lau will bring his tour to Malaysia next month.
He will be performing at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur for four nights.
