KUALA LUMPUR: Singer Aizat Amdan is feeling over the moon that his latest single, The Last Thing, made its global debut on Zane Lowe's Apple Music show recently.
The 32-year-old artiste, who has rebranded himself as AI.Z, said he was surprised that the new song, in which he wrote with Yuna and is produced by Kuizz, was chosen since it was only set to be launched on Saturday.
"I had dreamed for a very long time to break into the international market but I did not expect it to happen as quickly with Lowe playing the track on his programme. It's really hard for me to express my feelings right now.
"I thought it would take years and years to be able to do it. What more when I myself have just begun to actually try my luck with the international market.
"I must give credit to Yuna's management, Yuna Room Records, for their help in realising this dream. It has certainly strengthened my resolve to strive even further in order to become an international artiste," he said in a news report yesterday.
Talking about the project, Aizat said that it took place unintentionally sometime last year. He had also spent over a year to prepare for his rebranding as AI.Z.
"The truth is that Yuna, her team and I had been hanging out in the studio while playing some music at the time. That was when the idea to do this project came about. Yuna had encouraged me to come up with a song in English.
"Honestly, it was very challenging since she had to correct my pronunciation in English several times. It felt like I was learning to sing again.
"For international marketing purposes, I will be using the moniker AI.Z but in Malaysia I'm still Aizat Amdan. I'm also open to any invitations to head over to the US for promotional purposes and the like," he said.
