#Showbiz: Papa Zola & Pipi's vaccination video a hit with Malaysians

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian celebrities, including popular animated ones, have been actively encouraging the rakyat to get vaccinated as soon as possible.

Two animated television and film stars, the bulky superhero Papa Zola and his adorable daughter Pipi of BoBoiBoy fame, recently starred in a short promotional video, produced by the series' creator Monsta Studios.

The minute-long video which started making its rounds on social media two days ago has since garnered more than two million views, and tells the story of Papa Zola deciding to get vaccinated at the nearest vaccination centre despite his fear of needles.

Monsta Studios' brand and international sales head Faiz Zainal Aabidin said that they were doing their part to promote vaccination in the wake of rising Covid-19 cases.

"The coronavirus spreads at every second, so getting vaccinated is important to prevent the spread of this dangerous virus," he said in a news report today.

"We want to help the government speed up the attainment of herd immunity, and the best way to achieve this is to rope in our beloved characters such as Papa Zola and Pipi.

"Both of them have become household names, synonymous with family values. Having this super family get vaccinated will greatly encourage fans and their loved ones to do the same."

Papa Zola, Pipi and their friend BoBoiBoy have appeared in numerous public service videos over the last few years, including videos on Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to curb the coronavirus.
