#Showbiz: Seiko Matsuda's actress daughter dies at 35

KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran Japanese pop singer Seiko Matsuda's only daughter Sayaka Kanda has died after allegedly falling off a building.

Entertainment portal AsiaOne reported yesterday that Sayaka, 35, the only child of Matsuda and actor Masaki Kanda, was found in the outdoor space of the 14th floor of a hotel in Sapporo last Saturday.

She was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Sayaka had been scheduled to star in the musical, My Fair Lady, in Sapporo that day but did not turn up and could not be reached on her phone.

It is believed that she may have fallen from the 20th floor of the hotel, where she was staying, and police have not ruled out suicide.

Sayaka began her entertainment career as a singer before branching out into acting. In recent years, she had been active in musicals.

She is best known for being the voice of Anna in the Japanese edition of Disney animated movie, Frozen. She also sang its Japanese theme song For The First Time In Forever.

She married actor Mitsu Murata in 2017 but they divorced in 2019.
