#Showbiz: Sweet Qismina graduates after 3 years of work and study

KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Sweet Qismina has finally graduated from Segi University in Petaling Jaya with a mass communications degree, after three years of working and studying.

The 24-year-old artiste recently attended her convocation ceremony at the university in Kota Damansara. It had been postponed for two years as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The star of films as Tanda Putera, Pusaka and Juvana 2, and dramas as Manjalara, Cinta Koko Coklat and Bidadari Salju said that even though she had been acting since the age of nine, she "never neglected studying".

"I've been waiting for this moment. Thank God this day has finally come," she said in an Instagram post yesterday which accompanied photos of her convocation.

Sweet added: "I have been struggling to balance work and study since schooldays, only people close to me and God know how difficult it has been physically and mentally."

The actress whose real name is Farhanna Qismina Supandi said that fans often asked how she was able to act and study and she replied, "If you're strong, go for it. If you're not, don't do it."

Sweet said that some fans thought that she "did not have a childhood", but that was not true.

"Actually, I have really enjoyed working and studying. It is an experience that I will cherish forever," she said.

"As soon as school was over, I went to the set of my drama, then attended my tuition before the day was done. Even during exams, I went to the set between papers."

At university, Sweet attended classes for 10 hours, before spending another 10 hours on the set.

"It was tiring but I was determined to excel in work and study."

Sweet credited her mother for supporting and motivating her all the way.

"I pushed myself for 14 years and I've finally made it. All thanks to my mother."

Netizens, including fellow artistes, congratulated Sweet on her graduation.
