#Showbiz: 'Puteri Gunung Ledang The Musical' has been cancelled, Enfiniti says sorry

KUALA LUMPUR: Due to unforeseen circumstances, Enfiniti Sdn Bhd today has announced that its new season of Puteri Gunung Ledang The Musical has been cancelled.

In a press statement from Enfiniti today, it read: "We are deeply sorry to inform you that we have had to make the difficult and devastating decision to cancel Puteri Gunung Ledang The Musical.

"To all ticket holders, we appreciate your support and understanding, and we will be providing refunds in batches commencing from July 1 until Dec 31," it said.

The musical was originally scheduled to run in the middle of 2020, but was postponed to last year due to the coronavirus.

It was again postponed to the middle of this year.

Enfiniti founder, actress and producer Puan Sri Tiara Jacquelina also shared the news on her Instagram.

The statement also stated that each ticket holder would be notified in the next 14 working days in an email on how to process the refund online.

"As we will be systematically working through refunds for thousands of bookings with our ticketing agent, please bear with our ticketing agent and us as we go through this process."

Apart from extending its apology for the inconvenience and disappointment which the cancellation may have caused, the company also expressed its gratitude to those who have continued to support the local performing arts community which had been severely impacted over the last two years due to Covid-19.

PGL The Musical which made its debut at Istana Budaya in February 2006, was co-directed by Datuk Zahim Albakri and Adlin Aman Ramlie, with music by Dick Lee and lyrics by Adlin.

Restaged in August 2006 and February 2009, it is based on Enfiniti's 2004 movie Puteri Gunung Ledang.

Set in the late 15th century, the musical tells the story of a Javanese princess from Majapahit who falls in love with a Malay warrior from Melaka, Hang Tuah.
