60 stranded holidaymakers rescued from Gunung Ledang

TANGKAK: Sixty holidaymakers were rescued from the waterfall on Gunung Ledang after they were stranded following heavy rain today.

The deluge caused the river to overflow and flood the forest reserve near the waterfall.

Tangkak Fire and Rescue Station operation commander Rafiah Aziz said no injuries were reported and all stranded people were rescued.

She said the station received a distress call at 12.51pm and nine rescuers were deployed to the scene.

The victims were trapped by the river's strong currents and the overflowing banks of Kolam Puteri.

"Rescuers used ropes to ferry them to safety. No one was hurt. The mission concluded at 3.18pm."
