AIZAT Amdan is finally ready to take his relationship with his manager, Elyssa Alia Ilias, to the next level.
Come Sunday, the pair will tie the knot at a private ceremony in Puchong, Selangor.
"Both the nikah ceremony and wedding reception will be held at the same place on the same day," shares the 33-year-old artiste.
The couple initially wanted to be solemnised today, but due to unforeseen circumstances and logistics issues, they decided to push it back to the same day of their wedding reception.
"While the nikah ceremony will be kept small with family members and close friends only, more guests are expected to join the celebration of our matrimony at the reception," shares the crooner of Hanya Kau Yang Mampu.
The couple first met in 2018 when they were working together for a programme hosted by Rakita FM, where Elyssa, 34, was the content creator.
They soon became an item the following year.
"I find her unique. In fact, it was a case of opposites attract.
"She's more of the talkative kind, while I'm a rather shy person," admits the award-winning singer.
"Elyssa's like my cup of coffee which fuels me up, motivating me to work harder and excel further," shares Aizat, who decided to skip the engagement part and just tie the knot.
Ready for the next step
In February, Aizat took the first step towards marriage by sending his family to meet Elyssa's in a Malay tradition known as merisik. However, after declaring to each other's family on their intention to marry, they skipped the engagement ceremony that was supposed to follow suit.
The Akademi Fantasia 5 alumnus says after three years of courtship, it is time to take it to the next level.
"Besides, deep inside, I know this is the right woman for me. The feeling I have for her is not like any experience I have had in the past.
"Being someone who prefers to keep everything to myself, Elyssa has helped me to open and share my personal feelings with her.
"She is just ready to share my burden. In the past, I was a one-man show when it comes to managing everything.
"After that, I knew she was the one for me. So I decided to propose to her immediately for her hand in marriage."
The proposal took place in a meeting, which was very much like a discussion on work matters.
"But during that discussion, I asked her if this was the right thing to do, or whether we were both ready to take the plunge.
"It was she who convinced me that I was ready to be her husband. And that sealed it."
Meanwhile, Elyssa says she is comfortable being in her own skin with Aizat.
"He accepts me, warts and all. And for the first time in my life, I don't have to pretend to be this demure girl in front of a man whom I was dating," says Elyssa, who was also the host for HyppTV's Wayang Kita programme at one time.
But she also had her moments of doubt.
"Initially, I did wonder if our relationship could work out, seeing that I'm basically his 'employee'.
"But he's a gentleman, and after a while, I knew that it would work out fine.
"We're not the lovey-dovey type, who continuously express affection. That easy casual relationship we have is probably what led us to this next step we're taking," she says.
Earlier this year, social media went abuzz after Elyssa shared a photo of her and a baby boy who resembled Aizat, sending many to speculate that they got married in secret. As it turned out, the baby is actually Aizat's nephew.
Single for the bride
As a wedding gift for his soon-to-be bride, Aizat has released a new tune titled Hanya Kita Dua.
"The song is basically inspired by my upcoming nuptials and I especially dedicate this to her," he says.
The song, which he co-composed and co-written with Mel Ramlan sometime back, is a continuation of his song Sampai Ke Hari Tua released in 2018.
"When Sampai Ke Hari Tua became a hit, I thought of creating another song which is catchy and upbeat. So we came up with this one."
For this song, Aizat and Mel decided to put in a new nuance, giving listeners an option to celebrate their personal relationships.
But they decided not to release it immediately until it is time for Aizat's wedding.
"So you can say that this song's theme is based on my wedding. But it's not just for us, it's for everyone who is celebrating their loved ones out there too," he says.
Hanya Kita Dua is available on all digital platforms and its lyric video can be viewed on the Aizat Amdan YouTube channel.
