KUALA LUMPUR: Popular local animated sci-fi adventure series Mechamato which is produced by Monsta has secured the broadcast rights to 65 countries worldwide since it was launched last November.
Monsta marketing director Faiz Zainal Aabidin said that the achievement was very meaningful and inspirational.
"Mechamato is already being broadcast in Asia Pacific countries, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Taiwan and many more.
After officially announcing that Mechamato would be screened in Portugal two months ago, this animation series garnered more attention and has been added to 40 new countries including India, Turkiye, the Middle East and Africa.
"We are very excited by Mechamato's success in dominating several countries. During this Merdeka season, the animation is 'Our Warriror' of sorts that give us all the spirit and inspiration to take a further bold step into the international arena," he said in a press statement yesterday.
The animation, which was launched on the international Cartoon Network Asia channel, was developed with the support of grants from the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC).
Its aim was to export Malaysian animation to international markets that would result in the country being a major player for animation production in the Asia Pacific region.
The Mechamato series will also be available on terrestrial TV stations TV9 and TV3, as well as on Netflix and Monsta's YouTube channel in October.
Fans in Indonesia and Singapore will get to see the series on various platforms in those countries as well.
To end the year with a bang, the new Mechamato Movie will be screening in cinemas nationwide in December.
Monsta also released a short clip yesterday that features the plucky hero and his achievements in conjunction with Merdeka Day and Malaysia Day this year.
