#Showbiz: Exploration of masculinity, identity and family history in 'They All Die At The End'

KUALA LUMPUR: A new play exploring Indian masculinity, identity and family history, They All Die At The End, will be staged at KLPAC from May 25 to 28.

The devised production from Theatresauce is directed by Dhinesha Karthigesu, an alumni of Theatresauce's Emerging Directors Lab that ran from 2020 to 2022.

Featuring an ensemble cast made up of Ian Skatu, Karthigesan, Nandagopall, Sidhart Joe Dev and Tin Raman, the play initially began as a curiosity about ancestry and heritage.

It also questions how the combination of society, family and culture make or break the men who exist today.

They All Die At The End reflects and interrogates what it means to be Malaysian and Indian in the past, present and imagination.

The performance utilises an array of storytelling approaches, from poetic text and dialogue to music, movement and projections.

A series of sequences weave a story that mixes up real and fictional personal accounts.

The audience can expect a show that is both extremely personal and uniquely collective as the team explores painful realities and joy-filled spaces.

Tickets are RM55 each, or RM45 per ticket for a bulk purchase of four tickets, and can be purchased via www.cloudjoi.com/shows/they-all-die-at-the-end.

The 120-minute play with an intermission is for mature audiences only.
