KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran singer Rohana Jalil died at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM) Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Cheras, at 11.33pm today. She was 68.
Her death was announced by Rocketfuel Entertainment public relations manager Rizam Mahyuza Morsit on Facebook at 11.45pm.
"We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return.
"Requesting all friends to give Al-Fatihah to Rohana Jalil who has left us at 11.33pm," he said.
Yesterday, Rohana's manager identified only as Jepun said that she was in stable condition but remained weak as her intestinal perforation had yet to heal.
"Doctors cannot do anything at the moment as she is very weak. She cannot eat and drink and is dependent on antibiotics," said Jepun.
Jepun also said that Rohana was no longer in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital as its machines could no longer treat her.
"Doctors told me that germs have spread to her lungs and kidneys. They fear that her heart could stop beating any time."
Jepun added that Rohana underwent bariatric surgery two years ago for a gastric problem, but she developed intestinal perforation later.
Rohana, the mother of actress Kilafairy, was admitted to HCTM on April 18 and underwent surgery the following day. She was transferred to the hospital's high-dependency unit (HDU) five days later.
Her condition further improved on May 14, when she was transferred to a normal ward.
