KUALA LUMPUR: Popular radio announcer Emely Poon of MyFM has been stalked at her apartment by an unknown man over the last few weeks.
Poon, who has just lodged a police report against the stranger, shared her ordeal on Facebook yesterday.
"This is the most fearful experience of my life and it all happened at 9.30am on July 11 as soon as I got home from a shoot in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
"As soon as I got into my apartment unit I found this young man in my kitchen, and he was dressed in a t-shirt and shorts. I told him to get out, and it was here that I learnt that he got into my house four times," said Poon, who lives in Kajang.
She soon learnt that the man was familiar with the structure of her apartment and used the fire escape stairs to climb into her balcony without being detected by the CCTV cameras.
"This crazy man enters when I am at work and leaves before I get home. Security personnel even told me that they saw him lingering along the corridor close to my unit."
Poon, who lodged a complaint with her apartment's management office, urged them to boost security and protect the safety of female residents.
She learnt from some of her neighbours that the man was their fellow resident and was once seen naked on the roof.
"I'm living in fear now. I pray that the management and police will do what they have to do," said Poon, who received strong support from her colleagues, fellow residents and fans.
One of her fans, Joyce, said on Facebook that she ought to stay with her family until things got better.
"You did the right thing Emely. And here's hoping that artistes and celebrities keep safe by not posting photos of their homes on social media," said Joyce.
