#SHOWBIZ: KJ's campaign for ABPBH36's Popular Radio Announcer gains momentum

KUALA LUMPUR: Hot FM's radio presenter, Khairy Jamaluddin, affectionately known as KJ, is making waves in the campaign for the Popular Radio Announcer category at the 36th Anugerah Bintang Popular Berita Harian (ABPBH36).

Since voting opened, KJ's supporters have shown overwhelming enthusiasm, eager to see him win the coveted title.

Despite stepping back from politics, KJ has remained in the spotlight, proving his relevance in the entertainment world.

Hot FM has spearheaded a lively campaign to support his nomination, using a variety of creative methods to rally votes for the former Health Minister.

The popular radio station didn't just stick to social media promotions, they took the campaign to the streets. From distributing flyers to sharing messages on Instagram, Hot FM worked tirelessly to convince fans that KJ's talents extend far beyond the political arena.

The campaign has become one of the most talked-about this season, with Hot FM fully backing their new star.

According to Hot FM senior content director, Raja Khairil Idris Raja Aznan, the campaign mirrors a political election in its intensity.

"KJ is a former politician, so we brought that energy into his ABPBH campaign. We've been handing out flyers, creating campaign merchandise, and even holding outdoor broadcasts to engage with fans directly," he told Berita Harian.

Raja Khairil Idris noted that KJ's fellow announcers – Johan, AG Azmeer, and Fara Fauzana – have been fully supportive.

"This is KJ's first year as a radio announcer, and the team wants to make it memorable for him. They've stepped aside to give him a chance to shine, which could become a great achievement for him in this new chapter."

The response has been beyond expectations.

"We've received incredible support both in person and on social media. Many fans, including those who've never voted for ABPBH before, have been casting their votes for KJ. It's clear that many want to see him win," Raja Khairil Idris shared.

Hot FM even enlisted Emmet, the lead singer of Butterfingers, to record a special campaign song titled Menang Selfie Menang Undi, further fueling excitement.

Thanks to these efforts, KJ has climbed into the top 10 most-voted nominees in his category and is one of the top 36 across all categories.

Though KJ lacks a traditional fan club, his unique charm, wit, and ability to engage listeners have earned him significant attention.

His extensive political experience, including roles as Minister of Youth and Sports, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, and Minister of Health, has undoubtedly contributed to his popularity as a radio host since he joined Hot FM in February last year.

ABPBH36, themed Teguh (strong), celebrates unity and solidarity among Malaysians, aligning perfectly with the national spirit as the country marks its 67th National Day.

The event is proudly sponsored by CONBOO.
