KUALA LUMPUR: Director and actor Majed Salleh died at the Selayang Hospital in Selangor, this morning. He was 65.
He had been treated for heart problems at the hospital for the past two weeks.
The sad news was shared on social media by his 43-year-old wife, Nur Shida Mohd Zikir, as well as his sister-in-law Shiha Zikir, who is also a singer and actress.
"My brother-in-law, Abdul Majed Mohd Saleh, has died just now.
"Please recite the Al-Fatihah for him. May all of his sins be forgiven and may he be placed among the righteous. Amin ya Allah," wrote Shiha in an entry today.
According to a Harian Metro report, Nur Shida said her husband had died of heart complications, as well as kidney and liver failure.
It was previously reported that Majed had been rushed to the emergency ward of Selayang Hospital on July 17 due to a weak heart and swelling of his body.
His situation became critical when his heart functions had eventually dropped down to only 25 per cent.
He was believed to have undergone surgery for the installation of a pacemaker at Serdang Hospital last month.
Majed had acted in films such as Mekanik, Kembara Seniman Jalanan and Lembing Awang Pulang Ke Dayang.
He had also directed episodes for popular TV series like Gerak Khas, Metro Skuad, and the more recent Gerak Khas Undercover.
