KUALA LUMPUR: Pop king Anuar Zain marked four decades in music with style, entertaining fans in a two-hour concert at Stadium Malawati, Shah Alam tonight.
The 53-year-old Melakan crooner serenaded some 8,000 fans with most of his chart-topping songs in the 8.30pm Anuar Zain 40th Anniversary Concert.
Organised by JioBuddy, the concert celebrated Anuar's illustrious musical career beginning from his debut as a child singer alongside Ellina Razak in the pop duo Anuar & Ellina back in 1983.
Anuar said his concert was a "grand sequel" to his Anuar Zain 3 Decades Concert held at the same venue in 2013.
The singer performed a total of 20 songs including medleys, and they included Sedetik Lebih, Keabadian Cinta, Ketulusan Hati, Mungkin, Bila Resah, Lelaki Ini, Andainya Takdir, Kau Bunga Cinta, Perpisahan, Cinta Takkan Berakhir, Sempurnakan Aku, Jangan Bersedih Lagi, Selamat Malam and Sesucinya Cintamu.
"I hope we will have a wonderful night to remember. Beautiful memories were created in my last anniversary concert and I am confident that this one will be even better," said Anuar.
He said that Stadium Malawati was once again chosen as the concert venue as it brought back fond memories and furthermore he lives in the Selangor state capital.
The concert was directed by Jennifer Thompson with Sze Wan as the music director, and a team of 25 experienced musicians.
The concert was attended by Tuanku Permaisuri Norashikin of Selangor and artistes Ziana Zain (Anuar's sister), Ellina, Misha Omar, Elvira Arul, Syamel Fodzly, Ernie Zakri and Datuk Syafinaz Selamat.
