#Showbiz: Coldplay rocks KL with electrifying concert [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: The long-awaited moment finally arrived as British rock legend Coldplay took the stage at the National Stadium Bukit Jalil, captivating over 75,000 enthusiastic concertgoers with an unforgettable musical extravaganza.

This marked their first concert in Malaysia since their debut in 1997.

The seven-time Grammy Award-winning band was in town for 'The Music of the Spheres World Tour', and delivered an enthralling two-hour performance that encompassed a repertoire of 26 songs.

This time, it was more special, as it also marked their last concert of the year before resuming their tour in Manila, the Philippines, next year.

The evening commenced with an opening act by Malaysian hip-hop artist Bunga Isme, who presented 'Intan Payung', 'Apadehal', 'Belai' and 'Buai', as well as an exclusive preview of her upcoming single 'Jiwaraga,' slated for release next year.

Coldplay then treated fans to a musical journey through time, performing classics like 'Adventure of a Lifetime', 'Paradise', 'The Scientist', 'Viva La Vida', 'Hymn for the Weekend', 'Yellow', 'Clocks,' and many more.

Additionally, they enchanted the audience with tracks from their most recent album, 'Music of the Spheres', performing hits such as 'Higher Power', 'My Universe', 'Biutyful', 'Humankind', 'Human Heart', 'People of the Pride' and 'Kuala Lumpur Song' improvised by lead singer Chris Martin himself.

While performing 'Magic', he invited a couple, Syasya and Afiq, onto the stage to share the spotlight and sing along with him.

"I wish we came to Malaysia sooner than this! Nobody told us this will be one of the best audiences in the world… We waited 27 years to perform here… Thank you to the government for letting us play here," he said.

The band elevated the concert experience by incorporating kinetic dance floors and energy-storing stationary bikes into their show, inviting fans to contribute to powering the event through dancing or cycling.

This initiative was a key component of the band's broader effort to enhance the environmentally conscious tour, aligning with the band's commitment to sustainability and slashing carbon dioxide emissions by 50 per cent.
