KUALA LUMPUR: Tina Turner impersonator Rebecca O'Connor entertained fans of the late Queen of Rock 'n' Roll during a sizzling concert at Zepp KL, here, last night.
Accompanied by a 5-member band with two backup singers and four dancers, the Irish singer took members of the audience down memory lane with about 20 of Turner's biggest hits and several covers.
These included 'What's Love Got To Do With It', 'Private Dancer', 'We Don't Need Another Hero (Thunderdome)', Creedence Clearwater Revival's 'Proud Mary' and The Beatles' 'Help'.
"Apa Khabar? I can't believe we're finally here for the first time in Kuala Lumpur," said O'Connor in an Irish lilt.
Sporting Turner's trademark bushy mane and high heels, O'Connor kept the chatter to a minimum and let her singing voice, which bore an uncanny resemblance to Turner's, do all of the convincing during the 'Simply The Best Concert: Celebrating Tina, the Queen of Rock 'N Roll Tour in Kuala Lumpur' event.
Prancing around the stage in several outfits, including one by Datuk Tom Abang Saufi, she belted out heartfelt renditions and kept the energy level high throughout most of the 90-minute show.
O'Connor and her band from Australia had been touring the world for the past four months and said that Malaysia was one of their best destinations.
The entertaining concert came to a rousing close on a high note with an inspired performance of one of Turner's most recognisable hits, 'The Best'.
The concert also featured local singer-rapper Kayda Aziz as the opening act, who performed her hit song, 'Call On Me'.
Turner fans can still catch the Simply The Best Concert, organised by Milestone Entertainment, tonight and tomorrow at 8.30pm at Zepp KL.
Tickets are priced from RM198 to RM 538.
